If you're politically inclined and haven't voted in the first SCMB Presidential Poll yet,
get over there and hit it soon, as it's going to close at the beginning of March before the next round of primaries where we'll hopefully find out who the Democratic nominee is going to be. Sometime soon after that we'll do another one to see how SCMB users' votes have changed through the process. Pretty interesting stuff (at least to me)!
I made it to the local polling place yesterday to put in my vote for Barack Obama. We love early voting here in Texas, and this year is apparently no exception. I heard on the radio that more people have already early voted in this election than in the last two primaries combined, and a vast majority are voting Democratic. This was evident at the library I visited. It wasn't a long line (it was around 10:00 AM), but there were a number of people there, mostly of the older persuasion, and all of them were voting Democratic. I was vaguely encouraged for a moment, but I soon remembered that (a) no one cares to vote in the Republican primary since they have a de facto nominee already, and (b) I've heard rumors that Republicans are voting in the Democratic primary for the candidate they feel is less likely to win the general election. So my cynicism quikly returned and wrapped around me like a nice warm blanket.
Next up is the caucus, which apparently is like a meeting where you sit around debating issues using Robert's Rules Of Order. I'll make a motion to let me put in my vote for Obama and get the heck out of there. I'm not a Democrat, so I don't need to help work on their platform.
