Who is Pathetic Enough to Marry a Millionaire?
Now I would normally be the first person to defend the Fox network, I mean after all they're the network that brought us such shows as "The Simpsons," and.... well anyway here's what happened:
It's the American dream - grow up, get a job, slap around your fiancée, and then eventually become a multimillionaire. Then comes the best part - find 50 women who make Chris Farley's "Stupid! Stupid!" character look like a pillar of self-esteem and have them parade around in front of you in bikinis and wedding dresses. Finally, the big moment comes - and you get to marry the loser (what the show called the "winner") on national TV. Yes!
In case you missed it I'm talking about the show that aired recently on the Fox network, the hub for intellectual primetime entertainment, called "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?" I missed the show when it aired, but basically went like this: Start with 50 pathetic women, weed out all of the fatsos and minorities, and pick the one who looks like she'll be beautiful, and quiet.
Now I'm not one to be "sensitive" to so called "politically correct" issues, but wouldn't a better name for this program be "Who Wants to Take a Crap on Women's' Rights?"
But wait! Not only does our bride get to marry a man that she's only known for about 3 minutes - her prince charming has a history of family violence! Our multimillionaire (it's allegedly around $2 mil, which I guess counts as 'multi') apparently roughed up a former fiancée enough that she sought a restraining order against him. Boy, you beat out 49 other gold-digging sluts and marry a guy, and you think you know him. Ah well...
The hoopla caused by the revelation that the "multimillionaire" has relationship issues (call me shocked) caused Fox to cancel an encore presentation of the program tonight. Ah well the search for intelligent programming on Fox continues.
